McMinnville Affordable Housing Committee – one (1) open position

The Affordable Housing Committee is a nine-member City Council appointed body tasked with evaluating and implementing an Affordable Housing Action Plan meant to increase housing supply for low- and no-income families. Appointments are for 3 years.

Historic Landmarks Committee – two (2) open positions (Must live within the Urban Growth Boundary).

The Historic Landmarks Committee is a five-member City Council appointed body that: reviews building and demolition permit applications for a historic landmark, evaluates historic districts, buildings and sites; conducts surveys and inventories of potential historic resources; makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council regarding historic preservation; and promotes historic preservation public awareness for the City of McMinnville. Appointments are for 4 years.

Landscape Review Committee – two (2) open positions (Must live within the Urban Growth Boundary). 

The Landscape Review Committee is a five-member City Council appointed body that reviews all required landscape plans for the City of McMinnville. Applicants should have a background in landscape design or architecture and/or horticulture. Appointments are for 3 years.

McMinnville Planning Commission – Three (3) total positions per the description below:

  • Ward 1 – one open position (must reside in the area generally south of West Second Street, and west of Davis Street and the South Yamhill River)
  • Ward 2 – one open position (must reside in the area generally north of West Second Street, and west of Adams Street)
  • At Large – one open position (must be a resident of the City of McMinnville or reside within the McMinnville Urban Growth Boundary)

The Planning Commission is a nine-member City Council-appointed body, which takes action and makes recommendations to the City Council on a variety of current and long-range land use matters. Membership on the Commission requires that a person must be a resident of the City of McMinnville or within the Urban Growth Boundary and live in the ward they represent. Appointments are for 4 years.

Budget Committee - two (2) open positions.

The Budget Committee is a seven-member City Council appointed body which takes action and makes recommendations to the City Council on the City’s Budget. City Budget Committee members also serve on the McMinnville Urban Renewal Agency Budget Committee.

Budget Committee Members will serve a three-year term (Jan 2024 to Dec 2026). Application forms are available on the City’s web page at www.mcminnvilleoregon.gov/budget.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee - two (2) open positions

The McMinnville Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisory Committee (DEIAC) invites members of the community to join in the effort of making McMinnville a more inclusive city. There are currently two vacancies on the committee:

One (1) Member with term expiring December 31st, 2028

And,

One (1) Youth Member with term expiring December 31st, 2027

Members must reside, own a business, or attend school within the City of McMinnville city limits. A majority of members shall reside within the city limits. The Council can appoint a member to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee who does not meet any of these residency criteria if it is determined that the member brings significant value to the purpose of the Committee.

The City strives for members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to bring their lived experiences as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC); lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer/questioning, intersexed, asexual, and all other sexualities, sexes, and gendered/nongendered (LGBTQIA+) people, and/or people experiencing disabilities, as well as the ability to think broadly in terms of how issues of racism, sexism, ableism, and other discriminatory and prejudicial biases impact all residents in McMinnville.

The purpose of the DEIAC is to:

·       Advise the Council on policy decisions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion;

·       Make recommendations to the Council on public engagement strategies and methods by which McMinnville residents can better participate in the decision-making process;

·       Advise the City on culturally responsive service delivery, programming, and communication strategies;

·       Update and oversee progress on the City’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan; and

·       Identify local leaders and build leadership capacity in McMinnville’s communities of color.

The DEIAC meets the second Thursday of each month from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Currently meetings are held in person at Civic Hall and via Zoom.

McMinnville Airport Commission - one (1) open position

The selected Airport Commission Member will serve a four-year term with the term beginning on 1/1/24 and expiring on 12/31/2027, with the option to apply for a second term. The Commission consists of seven Commissioners: six public members and one City Council liaison member. A minimum of four public Commissioners shall be citizens, residents and taxpayers of the City.
