
Student Contest
Here is how it works...!
First, McMinnville Mayor, Remy Drabkin will select one winning student in each of the three categories listed below.
The official contest (promoted by OMA) kicked off in late 2023, but Cities may participate anytime during the school year - as long as the winning entries reach the League of Oregon Cities by the April 5, 2024 deadline.
What does that mean to you?
Submissions to City staff are due March 22nd, 2024.

Elementary School (grades 4 & 5)
Posters Contest (Photo of poster can be PNG, JPEG, or PDF files)
If I win, what do I get?
Entered into the statewide contest +
A Pizza Party for your classroom with the Mayor + City Swag bags for the classroom

Middle School (grade 6-8)
Essay Contest (Word, PDF, PowerPoint or online essay format)
If I win, what do I get?
Entered into the statewide contest +
A super cool City of McMinnville sweatshirt, downtown bucks, and lunch with the mayor!

High School (grades 9-12)
Digital Media Presentations (Videos only, MP4 or online video format)

Entered into the statewide contest +
Recognition (and a really cool award) at the City's Annual State of the City event in May + City of McMinnville Sweatshirt, Hydroflask Water bottle, and downtown bucks!
Winners from each category will be entered into a state wide contest for a prize of $500!
First place statewide winning students in each of the three categories will win $500. These students will receive their prizes at the awards luncheon held during the OMA Summer Conference in Klamath Falls at the Running Y Ranch, July 18-20, 2024.
Winners will be contacted in June for travel arrangements. Second and third place winning students win $300 and $100 respectively and will receive their prizes at the City's Community Fair and State of the City event currently scheduled for Thursday, May 30th 2024.

The City will review all applications and select a winner for each category.
City submissions are due to the League of Oregon Cities - Oregon Mayors Association on April 5th, 2024.
